THE PROGRAM   HISTORY  

The Postgraduate Program in Letters (Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras – PPGL), established in 1988, intends to prepare human resources for research and university teaching, stimulating criticism and high level research skills from a transdisciplinary perspective.

Nowadays, there are six specialties distributed into two different fields of concentration, in Masters and Doctorate degrees, namely:

Language Studies

  • Portuguese Language
  • Linguistics

Literature Studies

  • Brazilian Literature
  • Portuguese Literature
  • English-language Literature
  • Literary Theory and Comparative Literature

The Program has a diversified structure and offers to its students the possibility of developing projects in several lines of research. The Program also has a solid educational performance that brings together diverse research projects, whose production is recognized nationally and internationally.
